Description

Here’s your chance to learn how to build and maintain trails along America’s favorite footpath. Anyone who has EVER thru-hiked or WILL EVER thru-hike the AT will pass through the Central District of Shenandoah National Park. So, you will be making history with each swing of your pick or stroke of your saw.

Monthly projects include weeding, brush cutting, blowdown removal, drainage upkeep (waterbars) and blazing. More advanced projects involve building stream crossings with winches, and constructing stone and log staircases. Examples of earlier projects can be seen on Central District’s Blue&White Crew (link http://blueandwhitecrew.org/).  For more information, contact Dan Dueweke dandueweke@gmail.com
