Appalachian Mountain Club

Founded in 1876, the Appalachian Mountain Club is America's oldest nonprofit conservation and recreation organization. It promotes the protection, enjoyment, and wise use of the mountains, rivers, and trails of the Appalachian region. AMC maintains most of the Appalachian Trail from Grafton Notch at Maine Route 26 to New Hampshire Route 112 near Woodstock, New Hampshire, except for 15 miles of the Trail maintained directly by the White Mountain National Forest and a 2.2 mile section in the Presidential Mountains assigned to the Randolph Mountain Club.
